Its time. House is cleaned, winterclothes packed away, my feet are bare. All plants standing outside, even at night. There is only one thing left. Decoration. I love it colorful and bright.
So I started making these butterflies a few years ago and since then they have travelled through the whole wide world. In 2004, I was in Switzerland nearly all summer celebrating a Butterfly-Festival in Brugg while working in the showroom of a gallery.
The entire town was decorated with butterflies and I made no other glass figurines for many weeks. It was a great time and so they are kind of favourites to me now.
You can win the butterfly in the picture by following this blog and leaving a comment.
Happy butterfly made from freeformed glass with one little hook at the end of one wing to hang them up in the air. Made with love to greet spring and summer and to bring you joy.
freeformed from a masterglassblower (me :-)) in a flame, original thuringian glassart
every single piece is unique,
overall length: about 3.94 inches
Glass is emotional, sensitive and wild. It has own rules. You break them, you break the glass. You follow them, the glass will follow you, your thoughts, your feelings, virtually effortlessly. Or so it would seem. But you will know better. I love to share my knowledge and get involved with others. You dont have to be a glass artist. There is more art in every creating process than can be written down. Be open, be friendly, be yourself.

I would have loved to see the butterflies everywhere. Sounds like great fun. Did you display them around the gallery?
ReplyDeleteHello Slerks,
ReplyDeletethey sold so fast we where not able to decorate something for longer than one or two days. The Butterflies in the town where about 2 meters. They where standing in front of local shops, schools, kindergarten...and so on. People had buyed them the year before grey and uniform and individually decorated them over the time of winter. In may they where installed in town and in october there was a voting for the best/beautiful/interesting performance and a auction.
It's very lovely...and two of my favourite colours...blue and orange
ReplyDeleteYour work is so incredibly amazing! Butterflies are my favorite, although I'm loving your dragon figures and birds as well. Do you make butterflies on your orchid rods?
